Smart assistant on board: the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant in the BMW 1 Series is at your side while you are on the move, adding extra convenience to your journey. Shortly after you enter, your assistant welcomes you on the Control Display. Activated by the voice command “Hey BMW”, the intelligent voice assistant supports you with all your wishes and questions concerning the vehicle and helps you to make even better use of your BMW. It provides information on the car, controls central functions such as light and temperature or helps you to combat fatigue and reduce stress.

CLIMATE CONTROL VIA VOICE COMMAND.
“Hey BMW, I’m cold” – This short voice command is all it takes for the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant to instantly raise the temperature in the interior of your BMW 1 Series. Depending on your preferences, you can also ask it to activate the air conditioning, switch the Ambient light to green, set the ventilation to level 2 or perhaps raise the temperature in the footwell.

Authority that is instantly recognisable: the design of the all-new BMW 1 Series leaves a powerful impression both inside and outside. Starting with the dynamic front with its large double kidney grille and broad front apron. Clearly defined contours run parallel to the flowing roof line through to the distinctive rear. M Sport suspension lowers the vehicle by approximately ten millimetres. It also features shorter suspension springs and tighter damper settings, as well as harder stabilisers. Combined together, they result in an even more direct suspension design, which enables a distinctly sporty driving style.

The M Sports steering with Servotronic creates a direct and agile steering response and ensures less physical effort is required to turn the wheel. Your vehicle can be steered more precisely and it offers noticeably optimized handling characteristics, especially during dynamic driving in tight bends or sudden swerves. The M Sports steering functions over the entire steering angle with a direct, linear ratio. Servotronic offers variable and always optimal steering power support.

Drive train components perfect tuned to one another ensure optimum stability and control in the BMW 1 Series. The intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system distributes the propulsive force smoothly and variable to the front and rear wheels. The interaction with the mechanical differential of the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission results in a significant bonus in traction, driving dynamics and driving safety. ARB technology (actuator contiguous wheel slip limitation) fitted as standard has a further stabilising function. In close coordination with the Dynamic Stability Control, it significantly reduces the power understeer usually experienced with front-wheel-drive vehicles.

Whether shifted manually or controlled automatically, the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission in the BMW 1 Series permits fast and sports-style gear changes with permanently high efficiency. When driving highly dynamically in the upper range of revs, the driver is supported by the newly developed shift lights in the instrument cluster or in the Head-Up Display. If the automatic mode is activated, gear selection and shift points adapt to the individual driving style. The SPORT mode is systematically designed for performance and powerful acceleration, while the engine is always maintained in a high range of revs where plenty of output is available.
